J/P

But I do want a Mazda bed, you know, the ones that come on the Dual-Sport models.

Here's why:

I REALLY like the looks of the flareside bed for the Ranger, but I hate the lack of storage space inside the bed itself. I fish in bass tournaments every weekend, and my fleetside offers me all the space I need to store the big 7'6" Flipping Sticks. Bassers will know exactly what I'm talking about..... :)

SOOOOOOOOOOO, I saw a Mazda the other day, parked in a lot, and like a fool I stopped and was studying the damn thing for like 15 minutes. It appears that the inside of the bed is pretty close in size to the Ranger fleetside, but the outside of the bed has these really sporty looking "flares" above the wheel wells......best of both worlds, no?

So basically I'm wanting to know if these beds swap out, which I'm pretty sure they do.....and secondly, will I need to get the Mazda fuel tank filler neck? It doesn't look like there is a huge difference, but you know Ford .

Do you guys think it would look good? I think the bed I have is a little "plain" for a Saleen theme, but I simply cannot do the flareside thing...

I believe that "N" is on the supercab, not the bed, Leo.

I've done a ton of new, small mods in the last week or so:

I was thinking the same thing. Two of my other mechanics have Mazda b4000's.

I know exactly what you mean, it works like a styleside, and looks like a stepside!

They're tight. Tight like a tiiiiiiiger. (more AP nonsense)

I'm curious though, would a fleetside Ranger rollpan work with the Mazda bed? I'd hate to think I spent $300 for nothing....

Well, I was going to get the tonneau either way...Rangers need all the weight they can get in the rear. Besides, I'd like to be able to just leave some stuff in the bed every once in a while.

I'm seriously considering this....

I'll need those soon, but for now I'm able to tame the monster 3.0 power w/o them.

Which ones?

I've heard different things about them.

I've heard that the long ones will still bend over time, not to mention they're a PITA to install. The short ones don't look as good, IMO. But they function as well as the other ones.

You shouldn't have as much trouble, b/c you have an axle-under setup.

I have a flipped axle, so everything is bass-ackwards for me. Kind of why I haven't gotten them.

Mufakka has traction bars on his truck, when he re-registers (I sent him a PM at RPS) you might talk to him about them.

Let me dig up some stuff from RPS concerning traction bars....

Gimme a sec....

General consensus says get em. Hell, if they don't work well, it's only $50.

Looks like I'm stuck with Lakewood. :(

Mazda always seems to take the Ford basics and make them look a bit better. Slight change of shape here, a little more chrome there. The Escape/Tribute twins are a perfect example. Mazda took the original butt ugly, raced off the designers desk front end and made it look respectable. It took Ford three years to catch up. I too like the shape of the Mazda bed over the Ranger, but I still bought the FORD.

I agree. Although, on the B-Series, I don't like the huge area of black around the door's windows. (Earlier models)

But the Tribute kicks ***.

i believe they will because a while back on RPS a guy was selling a mazda tailgate and said that it fit rangers. so i would assume that if the gate fits then a pan would too
