License Plate Laws...

Anyone know about license plate laws? I wanna run a CAT paper plate up front but have no clue if that is legal in the great state of Maine. I searched on the dmv's site but can't come up with anything..

452. Manner of display State of Maine
1. Position of registration plate. A registration plate must be displayed horizontally. Only one set of Maine registration plates may be displayed on one vehicle. A registration plate must be attached to the front and the rear of each vehicle except as follows.

why not just look at all the cars around you. if they have a plate, you need one, too. the govt. doesn't give out 2 plates when only one is needed.

Yeah i dont run a front plate or mud flaps and have never been bothered. I keep the plate under the pass seat just in case though with some "broken" zip ties on it for an "explanation" lol.

In Ohio they will stop you for not front plate, they don't need another reason. Ohio requires them. I know two people in Ohio that received $75 tickets for no front plate.

um, he is in Maine, and so am I. Maine has State inspections. I said nothing about your state having them, and could care less if they did

I got pulled over when I lived in Ohio for no front tag. Took about a year of running without one to get noticed

thats very common because it gives cops a reason to run plates, license and look in your vehicle.

theyre not going to give you 2 plates when 1 is needed so take it off at your own risk, just expect to be pulled over and dont come on here with your panties in a bunch because the big mean LEO pulled you over and gave you a ticket for improper display of vehicle tags

its amazing, CA has strict smog laws where they inspect your engine and see if your car pullutes more than it should but no type of "inspection" you can show up with no front plate, tint, whatever.

Anyways, im living in WI for the summer, still have a CA lic, and the trucks still registered in CA, already got pulled over for running a stop sign and the cop couldnt give me a ticket cause he couldnt look up any of my info in his computer! Now i just gotta worry about state troopers cause im sure those guys can link up to CA

But back to the subject, i dont run front when im in CA either, figure the $10 fix it every year or so is much cheaper than paying camera fines which id probably get if i had it on.

I've been pulled over once, and when the cop drove by me before the U-turn, I knew he was after me for something. Just didn't know what. lol. Front plate...had it in my floorboard. the plastic pulled through the rivets when wheelin'. Got ripped off. So...that is what actually happened and i told him that. And showed him how i can't just put it back on.

I might do that trick where it's mounted behind that "grille" in the valence. Front plates are ugly anyhow.

Most cops probably won't care. But its like going 10-1 over the speed limit. Most of the time you'll be fine but you might find one cop having a bad day. So best advice is keep it in the truck under the seat with some screws.

Here is missouri they will give you a fix it ticket. All you haveto do is put the plate back on cruise by the poice station. Then they comeout its fixed waive the ticket. You leave go a block and remove it again
