My take on Turn Signal Mirrors.

So Ive always wanted to convert my manual mirror to signal mirrors. I read the https://www.ranger-forums.com/f59/ho...signals-66518/ and I just never liked how the lights in the write up look. I think they would look out of place on the 06+ mirrors. I hopped on ebay and started looking at some cheap LED strips. I found a 9 LED strip that I though would work well. Ordered them up and this is what I came up with. Sorry about the photo and video quality all were taken with my cell phone..

With the mirror already off the truck I mounted the LED strip to the inside of the mirror housing just far enough back to still have full range of motion when the glass is in.

Now with the manual mirror there is no way to get the wire through to the inside of the cab so I had to drill a small hole to allow the wire to pass through..

Basically the rest is the same as the write up. Tap the wire for the turn signal, ground the LED strip and we are ready to see what it looks like. Again sorry for the picture quality Ill have to get some better pictures up.

Overall I think it turned out great. Gives it that clean factory look.

How did you get the mirror itself, not the housing, off of the mounting plate?

glad everybody likes it. You can also mount the LEDs on the bottom or the top of mirror housing instead of the side and i think it would look pretty cool too.

i get it, and its does look worlds better then that write up to ruin your mirrors, but i cant ever imagine a time when someone avoids an accident with out because your mirrors were signaling a turn. if they can see your mirror strip then they can see your taillights.

I totally agree with that. I doubt they will prevent a wreck. But i think they tasteful mod that does add something to the truck. Its one of those things where your sitting at a light and you see it and say "hey thats pretty cool"

Will this work on 01-05 mirriors? I don't see why they wouldn't

dont see why not.. the LED strips are flexible and would have no problem going with the curve of the mirror.

I've got a bunch of 12" led strips that I might have to experiment with now...
