mystery mounts in bed

I bought a 2002 Ranger today and there were these unusual mounts in the bed. They might be for some sort of tool rack? I have no idea. Anyone know what they're for? I took them out already, kinda PITA with all the screws and they barely fit down into the holes on top of the bed.

Pretty sure those were for the factory bifold plastic bedcover that Ford offered. It hinged in the middle and opened from either end. There's one on Ebay right now.

You're probably right. I found the one on ebay but there's no photo of the bottom. I don't see how the big aluminum pieces would fit that cover though.

They are for the factory bifold cover. The center hinge fastens to the aluminum bracket with a spring loaded pin. The hole below the slotted bracket is where the pins lock in. The other 3 holes are for a plastic divider that separates the front from the back.
