Thats expensive for a can of nightshade!

 

my buddies dad was like "why the hell did you spend $20 on a can of spray paint?" hah

 

ha the Dupli-Color Mirage rattle can paint is $20 bucks and they aren't even full size cans!

 

I've only ever bought 1 can of niteshades and it was like $10.

My local Ford dealer has it for about $15.

I did my corners last year as a trial run before i did the tail's, but haven't gotten around to it. Going to throw some cracked lens' that i have in for now so i can take them out and do them properly over a day or two.

 

I think i would have used some 320 and then wetsanded with some 600.

 

mine was 10 bucks but they add shipping...

 

Only need to lightly scuff the lens, with a brillo pad even, just as long as you clean it well with some diluted thinner or something like that. And the nightshade you only need to sand to get the texture out of it left behind by all the thin coats so the clear coat will go on nicer, think i used 1000 grit. You dont need to get into wetsanding anything unless you are getting into finished surfaces that you intend on polishing. My corners look like black glass the only thing is that I had not used it before and did not realize how thin it was and made the first coat run a little. I sanded it out but you can still see the thickness difference and a few stripes when it is lit up.. Should have sanded it off and started from scratch but oh well.

 

Just did my 3'rd brake light trying out a new technique one of the painters at work told me to try. Now that I am happy with the results I am going to do my tail lights. First I scuffed on the lens was with steel wool. Cleaned it, sprayed 3 coats of tint, scuffed with a really soft brillo (yellow) and standox blend paste. Then a few coats of clear and they came out perfect.

 

blacked out tails = **** on white trucks
