non ford content, but S10, what to do with this canopy??

so i have one of my trucks up for sale right now sitting at the end of the driveway with a sign.. its an 88 S15..

i've been thinking of taking the canopy off lately. but its beat up and i dont want it.. its very dented on the top, old, with some mossy **** growing on it, it leaks but the windows are in perfect condition.

so what should i do with it?? i was thinking of taking it off the s10 and picking it apart keeping the windows and scrapping the rest. im going outside soon so i will get some pics then..

Take the topper to the landfill. Used toppers in nice shape are worthless so a crappy one is worth even less. I have thrown out several over the years. Either that or put a sign in it at the end of the driveway with a $50 and someone will steal it. If you put free on it, it will sit there til the second coming.

is the S-15 also a cheap runner? if so I would just leave it on the truck and sell it with. most guys buying a cheap truck are going to want a topper no matter what the shape.

its a project truck that needs some work. rear bumper, wipers, bell housing, mirrors need to be put on,battery, there's something going on with the wire going to the starter.

has good tires, extra set of stock steel rims with no rubber, plus a bunch of crap i had laying around that i want get rid of, body is in good shape no dents... i have it up for sale for $700 obo right now. selling because i need the money more than the truck right now.

i'll see if i can find a picture of it right now.. but i want to take some more updated pics then possibly toss it on craigslist.

found a picture.

I'd toss it on craigs list with "offer" on it. I'd also let the first guy with anything over $400 cash drag it off.

Leave the topper on. tell the guy interested in buying it he can sell it for $50 on Craigs list.

the other option i am thinking about is, junking the white cap and going to the neighbours house and grabbing his grey canopy and tossing it on my s15. its for an 8ft bed but its WAY nicer than what i got on there now..

and im not selling it for less then 500 bucks.

just leave that thing on the s-15 and sell it as one whole unit. let the new owner deal with it.

your turning the topper and truck into two separate items. see how long it's taken you to get rid of the truck and you still have it. just think how long it'll take to get rid of the truck AND the topper.

if i was in the market for a beater truck, i'd take it all as one. if i didn't like the topper i'd buy a new one.

as for the price, stand firm. i'd pay $500-700 for that truck. as long as it was mechanically good and didn't need a ton of work for safety's or whatever.

i picked it apart and replaced the front fenders with ones from a JY, did some bodywork on them. spent a couple months did a boatload of bodywork on the bed.

i was thinking about taking the white canopy off and picking it apart then grabbing a friend's canopy and tossing it on the truck because its in much better condition. i put lots of bodywork and elbow grease went into this truck.. plus i have another 2.8L V6 FI that has a blown connecting rod bearing, brand new oil pump that goes with the truck if the "buyer" wants it.
specs are: 1988 GMC S-15, extended cab 4x4, 2.8L V-6 fuel injected, 5 speed. also has a 1991 one piece grille also from a JY. the rear part of the frame (from the back of cab to the rear bumper) has been cleaned up and sprayed with asphault undercoating, has a 3 inch body lift.

well put the damn tailgate on and get all the **** out of the back if you want it to actually sell ... you dont want everyone to think its been sitting in your yard for 10 years and you finally moved it to the front of your driveway

i wasnt the one that put the **** in the back.. my dad did but im thinking about cleaning it out i guess.. the truck needs a bell housing, and has a connection problem going to the starter apparently.. im just done putting money into this truck even though was my first vehicle..

most of the **** in the back is spare parts for the truck.. at least 4 steel stock rims, the tailgate, an extra fuel injectors that i pulled off a rolled truck. etc... of course there's some other crap in their too, like probably 4 weedwackers. i was just hoping that someone would come by buy it with the **** in it.. but i guess not.. guess i'll pump up the tires on the ranger drive it out front swap all the **** and the canopy.

Is that the for sale sign on the front window? There's the problem, no one can till its for sale. Not facing on coming traffic and print is too small, not to mention no attention grabber. Get a couple of those black and orange signs at home depot for like 2 bucks and get that **** sold!

Don't be so hard on the canopy. It isn't any uglier than the rest of the truck.

An S-10 with the 2.8, I wouldn't touch it.

haha ya thats what i was doing with this truck too.. using it for storage. but about 3 months ago my dad decided i didnt the truck anymore and drove it out front while i was sleeping.. haha . right now if i sold the truck for 600 bucks, i could get out of the hole in my account and then actually make an "extra" payment to the loan for my ranger. then the rest i would stash it away somewhere and save it..

haha ya.. i've had nothing but problems with them 2.8's.. gutless pieces of crap is what they are.. the truck itself looks pretty good without the canopy. i've hated that canopy ever since i got the truck 6 1/2 years ago..

haha.. should of gone with the 4.3 haha... my uncle used to own an automotive shop and he had a late 80's s10 blazer 2 door 4wd, 2.8L 5 speed that i was going to trade my s15 for, but then he closed down the shop and im not sure where it went.. plus he didnt have the papers for it.. the 2.8's are weak.. i was driving normally down the road with mine and it started knocking.. thank god i was pulling into the driveway.. the knock was so loud, i could be in the house (about 100ft away) with all the doors and windows close and i could still hear it clearly even at idle..

The body actually looks clean for a chevy. I was shocked to see that it still has cab corners.

i do have a proper For Sale sign for it, just gotta get it on the truck... i typed up another "information" sheet too, with bigger print and more info..

the rear cab corners have been redone with fibreglass.. when i got the truck (i had a boatload of pics on photoyahoo but they got lost somewhere) the driver's side floor had a hole in it after i gutted the interior. so the floor was patched with fibreglass and primered.

tomorrow i will take go through the bed of it..
