Yes rust there is very normal. From what I understand in that door crease Ford used to put silicone between the fold but quit doing it several years ago so the moisture seeps right through there.
|
Yeah My 04 has that
Thing is my 93 never had any rust anywhere. |
my 03 has a little there but my buddies 95 didnt have any rust what-so-ever...it sucks
|
my 95 rusted out there. put a pair of clean, southern 97 doors on it.
|
my 02 has it....
|
It sucks and you need to fix it before it gets away and you have holes. I have change a few doors with holes on the inside.
|
Yours is minor so fix it now. Sand it down and paint it. Silicone it and protect it. Clean it out often during the winter. Just a rag and simple green to get the moisture and salt out.
Mine are starting to rust out also. They are just on the verge of coming through the other side. I'll probably get some doors from down south to replace them. I sealed them up with aluminum roof silicone for now. |
As soon as I get a "new" vehicle home , I get out the one gallon can of WD40 (Water Displacer 40) and dump half of it in a pump up yard/garden sprayer. Pop the plugs out of the doors and remove the inner cover on the tailgate and start spraying inside.
Ten years later , no rust, and I live in the snow belt. |
Yup same problem with my 04. I used this tool and por 15.Worked out awsome, no rust anymore.

My '07 looks the same.

I open my doors and pressure wash them, no issues yet.

my 06 has none whatsoever. One good thing is to keep that area waxed as well. i always dry my door wells and jambs and even wax them to prevent this. Of course i dont live in Canada, but it might help you to keep that prevented

According to Carfox: Yeah My truck came from PA originally where it was sold then to Texas it was owned by someone for a month before it was Repo'd then it sat on a lot for awhile before I got it. so she has had some neglect and miscare in her lifetime |
Umm I think there is a 5 year/unlimited mileage warranty for rust
|
only if you get the "rust spray package" that the dealer offers. i had an issue with a spot under my hood at the front edge and was told this.
apparently this area is common on all vehicles since any standing water next to the curb is sprayed up when driven though. hence the driver side is less likely to suffer this problem. i also have this area starting to rust and was wondering about the POr 15 starter kit. i'd have to get rid of all the paint that is effected before i could put the stuff down. correct? i see they (POr 15) offer a clear colour as an option. has anyone used this? |
there are 2 little cuts on the bottom of the doors no? on mine anyway, i put oil in there couple times a year, dunno if it helps but i like to think so
|
I pull the panels and spray the inside of new door and tailgate seams with motorcycle chain lube. It has a light carrier that wicks the thicker lubricant into the seam and helps keep the water out. Every year or so, I spray in some more. Nothing stops rust forever in this part of the country but this method seems to help.
