Oem Foglight Query:

I'm going to install the fog light valance and oem style fog lights on my '03 Ranger XLT. What do I need besides these:

I know I need a different bumper than what I have now (my valance doesn't come up the sides of the bumper like the fog light versions), so I assume the fog light style bumper has different ends on it?

It seems there should be a fog light bracket of some sort, which I can't find on any of the parts lists.

If some of you guys w/ oem fogs on your '01~'03 Rangers would chime in on how the fog lights attach to the valance, i'd appreciate it.

for an OEM like fit and finish, you'll need a 01-05 upper bumper for an EDGE or 4x4 XLT. It has provisions for those 'ears' on the top of the valence.

There are some members on RPS who've cut those 'ears' off and used the stock upper that you have now and it actually looks pretty good. Thought i had pics saved of this..but can't find 'em.

The fogs brackets are build into the valence...just add a nutsert to those brackets on the valence and thread in your bolt. 1/4" nutsert and bolt should be perfect.

here, you can see the provision on the 01-05 edge and xlt 4x4 uppers...

Thanks Shane, that's exactly what I was looking for. One more question: They appear to be solid mounted to the valance. how do you adjust/aim the lights?

Edit: that looks like an adjuster at the bottom of the light. Is there one for right/left adjustment as well?

You have up/down adjustment via that adjuster screw on the bottom of the lamp. no left/right adjustment unless you add washers between the lamp and the mounting tabs.

The fogs only pivot up/down, so washers are your only left/right adjustment.

Excellent info. Can't thank you enough. When you speak of "nut-serts", i'm guessing you mean something like these trim clips as opposed to what comes up on a search of "nut-serts":

Would that be correct?

SPEEDNUTS!!

that's the word i was looking for. hahaha. i think you'll need the long reach ones(not the short reach like you've got pictured)

Here's what i'm talking about...(ignore the arrows, use bolts not screws as in the pic...i think i'm getting the point across) lol....

Excellent. I dig it.

I'll start procuring parts in the next couple of days. I've always wanted the fog light front end on my truck, and kept putting it off. It'll be a lot cheaper than buying a new truck though. I'm still of the opinion the '01~'03 mesh grille/round fogs is the best looking Ranger front clip so far.

Thanks again!

Yes, all the above information is correct. I have a 2004 edge and I swapped a 2003 front end on because I liked it more. I repainted it after a few years and then, replaced and repainted again it because I hit a deer. I can take apart that front end in my sleep.
