Opinions on elimintaing the sidemarker loight

Im going to be putting new fenders on my 88 ranger gt. I was thinking of filling in the opening in the middle of the front of the fender where there is a sidemarkerlight. Im a;so putting on new mirrors that have a side marker light in them. What do some of you think of eliminating the sidemarker.

It'll be illegal. They are required under federal law. Of course, so is an AMBER reflector but guys like me have clears, lol.

If you have vehicle inspection where you are, you may need a "friendly" inspector or you might not pass.

What happened to the opinions

The new trucks dont have a sidemarker on the fender. Why would my older one have too. It has the the ligts in the front bumper. In eliminationg the one in the fender, there will be one on the side mirror.

Side mirror? That's not code. It has to be on the front fender or bumper. The new trucks effectively ARE on the fender, so I'm not sure what you are saying in yoru first sentence.

Don't rely on the mirror one. It has to mark the FRONT of your vehicle to be code compliant.

OK, I see what you are saying. I was thinking of eliminating it because I cant find any clear lenses for it. Ive got clears for the front ones in the bumper. I dont like the yellow ones on the side of the fender.

Neither do I. If you look at my avatar I have clear side marker lights also. Technically illegal but I always pass inspection. They look a bit yellow in my avatar pic because I have silver surface amber bulbs and the lights are the parking lights are ON.

Sorry I can't tell you what's out there specifically, but I have NO experience with older Rangers. My first pickup was a 2001 Ranger (wrecked) and I've got my 2002 I replaced it with and so far I'm holding on to this one, lol.
