Paint chrome grill and bumper?

On my 98 xlt Im trying to decide if I should paint my grill the same color as my truck (dark green) or just leave it alone. I wonder if it would look ok with the grill painted and the front bumper left chrome........

Leave it alone unless you are a good painter.. an expensive mistake I do not want to do again..

I had a rusting gray "painted" XL one and wanted it black, did rustoleum and it ran so bad I went and bought a chrome one..

Thanks for the pics. I guess Im leaning toward painting the grill and bumper same color. Color girlls and bumpers appear more modern to me, but chrome doesnt look bad on a older ranger. Im going to order the paint tonight and post some before and after when I get a chance to prep/paint.

i would try and find an extra bumper that may not be in the greatest shape to paint. itd be a shame to ruin a good bumper.

I'd suggest starting off with a painted bumper to begin with. Lot of prep to make paint stick to chrome.

I did a rear bumper on my old ranger a few years back. Chrome painting was easy but took more time. I removed bumper, sand with 400 then 800. then I use dupont variprime, stuff always worked great.

OR I could just use muriatic acid and be done in just a few mins, but Im not sure what that would do to the molding.
