Painting step bars question

Looking to paint my step bars on my 03 soon. Just curious what everyone does with the plastic part. I know i can paint them black again but I was thinking that the paint will just scrape off the plastic part after i step on them a few times and then look worse than before. Will it hold up with the krylon fusion?

Is the plastic part that you are talking about the long piece that is on top?

If it is black, then black Krylon Fusion should do just fine. Make sure you clean the plastic very well, and use some grease and wax stripper.

After painting, let it dry for a good while before using it.

yea the long plastic piece on top that you actually step on. I have no problem with the painting, my valence and grille came out awesome. Im just worried about the paint just scratching off after stepping on it and it looking like crap.

It wont scratch off. And even if it does, it wont look too bad since the original color was black.

Just let it dry reaaaallly good, and you shouldnt have a problem.

I painted mine last year, and stepped all over them with no problems.
