Is it possible to take the front end of a 04 or 05 ranger and put it on an 01 or later ranger?

Anything is possible, but why would you want to, the new ones are a step in the wrong direction looks wise.

I like the 02 because the grille is simple. It's just one big opening. I don't like the three openings with the obscenely large ford oval. I also prefer my fog lights round.

to answer yourr question and not go offtopic at ALL.

It is possible, you will need a new grill and most importantly, a new hood since the grill on the 04-05 stick up higher almost like the new F150 vs the older F150s. I beleive you can still use your old bumper valance and bumper.

I seem to recall that a new radiator support might be needed too.

Just wait until I paint the valent krylon gloss black, or maybe find a black billit grill with a space for the ford Emblem... Just got photoshop re-installed last night, so I'll play with the options... Sometimes it's just good to be different, but I do like the stock 03's better. Sure nuf. Just that I like what's under this hood, then what was behind my old 03 grill.

And since they are practically giving away rangers these days, it wasn't a very expensive move for you.

I was just looking at the rad support on an '04 and I see is higher in the middle than it is on the sides. I don't have my '02 here but I seem to recall that rad support is flat across.

if you want to swap, it's up to you, don't let anybody tell YOU what YOU like, anyways, i changed my '00 front end to the 01 to 03 front end. I changed the grill, headlights, header panel, and core support, I kept the 2000 bumper and valence though because i liked them better. other than what other people have listed look at the header panel to see if it needs swapped.

no sure whats called what, but the "core support" (whatever the grille and panel bolt/clip onto is NOT the same...So that needs to be replaced, same with grille and panel, and hood.....and i would assume a new hood latch too

that should be it
