which fog lights should i get?
im going to be putting some fogs on my truck and i dont really know what fogs would be on the cheap side but also good. i was on someones cardomain and they used pro comp explorer 55 lights. i like those but are those really even fogs? i need some thing that will fit in that valance hole for the fogs that looks good and is cheap and disperses the light out to the sides. id also like to convert them to hids later on too. so give me some ideas on what to get. thanks.

I'm in the exact same position.
OEM are expensive, and I don't know if they're really comparable to a good aftermarket light like KC or Hella (if htey made a 5" light).
Also important to me is a fog beam pattern, something close up and wide that will fill the gap below my headlights when offroading or driving through a blizzard, or whatever.
I measured my valance and the opening is 5" exactly, so I'm looking for a light just under 5", or maybe exactly 5".
Here are a couple options I've found so far:
Rampage 4.75" fog light:
Amazon.com: Rampage Products Offroad Vehicle Lighting Complete Kit - Round H3 55w Clear Fog Lights, Black Polymer Housing, Glass Lens (4.75"x5"x2.5")Kit - Complete Light System: Automotive
Bosch fog light, about 4.2" round:
Amazon.com: Bosch 0305055901 Compact 100 Clear Lens Fog Light Kit: Automotive
I've also been looking at the KC 50 series. They make a $35 (per light) version that you can find in most online stores, but I need to review the overall dimensions to make sure it will fit. KC is probably the most expensive though, but also the one I'm confident would be the best light output (they are 100w too).
I'm still looking though. I wish people had some good input on how good each of these brands are in terms of light output and beam pattern, but thats hard to find

I just installed a set of Pro Comp Explorer 55's, black, fluted driving/utility pattern. Here are some pics:
I had to modify the mounting brackets on the Pro Comp lights to get them to mount in the stock locations.
Night time pics:
Headlights only:
Headlights and Pro Comp 55w fog lights:
I'm very happy with how these turned out all around. The beam pattern is very flat and wide and fills in below the headlight pattern perfectly, and again, is very nice and wide

The pictures make it look like there are some very bright spots immediately in front of the truck, but to the naked eye what I notice most is how much light spreads out to the sides.
I don't think you'll be able to get HID's in these. The housings are only about 1.75" deep... I think if you were going for a whiter color you could get some aftermarket H3 halogen bulbs (I think thats what these use) and swap them in.
A deeper housing would not work with the stock mounting brackets, these were as deep as you could possibly fit in there with the stock valance. I even had to slightly trim the valance a bit for these to fit as it was (basically made the valance fog light holes about 1/2" shallower at the top, bottom of the holes was ok)

ebay specials :) Can't really compare to stock, my old headlights were so yellowed and hazed. I don't think it was a huge performance improvement though because they just aren't super bright, but definitely an aesthetic improvement. And these pro comp fog lights dont help my perception any, they make the headlights look as dim as candlelight :)

Well that's what I was hoping when I bought them too :) I guess without going with something like projectors I just don't think you can get more out of a reflector housing and the stock 55w 9007 bulbs... but then again these ebay specials were cheap too, I think like $35 shipped or something like that
