heres my dilema i cant decide wether i want to lift the rear bumper and leave the hitch where it isor just ad a filler panel between the tailgate and bumper...

 

i'd lift the bumper

 

I chose to lift the bumper and leave the hitch down there. Depending on how your hitch is mounted it could be rather easy to change if you can access a welder or beer for a buddy with a welder. My hitch is a drawtite (IIRC) and mounts to the bottom of the frame. The Ford hitch mounts to the outsides of the frame. The Ford ones are easy to shorten, just cut a section out of the vertical plates that mount it and weld it back together. Theres a few threads on here somewhere that have some pics from Shane (FX4Wannabe) doing it I believe.

 

truck looks awesome. Definitly raise the bumper and hitch. it will look alot cleaner that way

 

the hitch i have is a hidden hitch the tubular design where the bar hids behind the bumper and only thing you see is the reciever

no because ive seen it both ways...i didnt want my hitch to hang down so far but then again i didnt want my bumper down that low so i asked which would look better and got my response...i chose raise the bumper

 

Def. lift the rear. Looks a ton better IMO

 

Question, why when the truck was 4wd it was lowered, and now that you've swapped to a 2wd frame you lift it? I thought part of the reason for getting a 2wd XLT frame was to make it easier to drop? Just seems a bit backwards to me. [/hack]

Glad you chose to raise the bumper.

 

That hitch you've got actually looks alright when the truck is BL'd. Me, i ended up modding the hitch and lifting it. Took that nasty ugly *** sour taste away from the hitch that hangs 2' below the bumper.

 

He got a deal on this frame that was too good to resist. He needed a new frame no matter what, his stocker was bent.

If it is, get pics after you lift the bumper. I want to see what it looks like, that's the hitch I have on my truck and I'll have a BL on top of what I've got eventually.

 

Make your own brackets and split the different. I haven't seen anyone do that before. I don't know how hard it would be.

 

Defiantly have to lift the bumper. The plate will make your truck look bad.

Lift the bumper. It looks retarded without it lifted on any truck. How about a roll pan instead?

And it looks like a donk now with those wheels.

 

I know you probly could fab some diamond plate behind it that would look sweet imop
