Side Steps

What do you use to keep your side step plastic black? I've tried everything and it always fades back out to an ugly white color.

My brother used that Ice stuff on his girls Caliber on the plastic and it looks brandy new... Me personally I just paint my plastic black again when it fades... Clean it up real good then use krylon fusion
