yeap, it's DSG actually, just bad lighting in the garage after i sprayed it... it's going to dry over night and i'll try to get it all cleaned up, ready for the everlasting elegance, which i have a sample of, curing as we speek, it has been curing for about 32 hours now... it wasn't quite cured at 24hours
if only my OCD roommate knew what i was doing, and what the chemicals i was using in his kitchen were :D lol

me too... putting the chapstick on was a lot harder than i thought it would... i used my finger so that there weren't any globs anywhere... but i kept touching the part i wanted to have paint on... GRRR! should be dry when i get home from work in the morning... i do know it ran a little bit, i don't have any actual runs, but there is a little bit of a pool in one corner...

yes, i can't take credit for it though... the chapstick idea was in the origional post for how to do the gel emblems... apparently i have to trim with a razor anyways, just to get a nice clean line

chapstick doesn't seem to do much... tried to scrape some of it off this morning, paint wasn't fully dry, but it didn't seem to want to scrape off as i imagined it would...
i was thinking about doing this. but black. since my truck is black. but i dont have the patience to do the lettering. so i would of done the whole emblem black. which might look cheap, therefore i haven't done it. the DSG should look bad *** since u got the two tone. any progress pics?

no, i triyd to cut the letters last night.. the running the razor all the way around the letters is actually a lot easier than i thought it would be... all i can suggest is use LOTS of lip balm, as my paint doesn't seem to want to come off

no, i don't think i put enough on... i'll glob it on, if i ever try it again... i ended up just scraping the paint with my thumb nail, worked well enough...
some angles you can't see the difference between the dsg and chrome (none shown here)

Now, are you going to clear coat the entire thing? Or try to fill it up with epoxy like the how-to? The awesomeness of the hit-n-miss with that epoxy.
I've been wanting to try out laquer thinner on a q-tip on these emblems after paint. I did a set of valve covers and a B&M t-handle for my chevy...turned out pretty good.

I tried this and failed miserably. I guess I didn't have it sitting level enough on my carboard box. Needless to say I ended up with dried epoxy on my sink. and an emblem that wasn't good looking enough to put on my truck.

i'm going to try the epoxy, i've got it, i'm just letting a sample cure, before i put it in onto my emblem, and waiting to find out if a friend of mine wants to do this to his truck, because then i only have to mix one batch of the epoxy

sample is almost fully cured, this is going to work wonders! i used everlasting elegance... the sample i have has been curing for about 80 hours, and is still not rock solid... but it is getting more and more solid every time i check on it... if i were to try, i could snap it in half, but it also bends if you bend it slowly... i'll pour the new stuff in, probably tomorrow afternoon, if my buddy doesn't want to do his

i will for sure, the sample i did, turned out a little bit cloudy, but with how thin it will be, i doubt it will be noticable, plus with the colour right up against the back of it...

so, i was going to pour the epoxy into the emblem today, but noticed a scrap of paint, i had scraped off was stuck to the backing, when i tried to get it off... i ****ed it up... so i have to start all over again... any idea how i can strip the paint off, without damaging the chromed plastic?
i'm thinking maybe varsol?
