All of sudden my tailgate rattles on my 99. It's from the right side. I put in a new rubber bushing but the rattle's still there.
The parts guy says there should be an "insert" of some sort so he ordered one for me today.
Anybody know anything about in "insert"?

There is two peice plastic bushing that goes on on the tailgait and where it mounts. you must have not replaced all of the peices for it. the tailgait bounch is annoying tough!

 

Hello, I'm also getting a jingle like sound when I go over bumps. I took the tailgate off and the sound went away so I know it's the tailgate.
​​​​​​I thought it was the tailgate bolts so I lined them up and tighten the tailgate latch mechanism but it still makes the sound when the rear tires hit a bump or small road crack.
could it be the bushings? Any ideas?

The tailgates has plastic bushings where it mounts to.

 

I haven't been able to find replacement manufactured "bushings" - tailgate hinge inserts but I will rap the hinges with tape so it can act as if it were the inserts to make the tailgate sturdier to diagnose the problem.
​​​​​On my truck the right insert for the roller hinge is missing so the hinge basically pivots on metal.
I carefully hit the tailgate with a mallet on multiple areas to mimic the bumps on the road but the tailgate didn't make the jingle like sound so I'm thinking it might be the right bare hinge making the jingle sound?
