tinting the tails

I was thinking of tinting the tails on my truck but wasn't sure what the best product to use would be.
Does any prep work need to be done before spraying the lights and does anyone have any pictures of tinted tails lit up? im concerned this will prevent a lot of light from coming through....Thanks!

NIteshades takes too much prep to get them perfect. I like to tint clear coat with a tad bit of black. Heres my wifes I just done....I didnt go to dark on hers though.

Heres the ones I did using niteshades. They looked great but took LOTS of wet sanding to get them there
