had an idea too about those bolts for the tire - in stead of welding them - just get the location of the bolts, then put the bolt through, thread a locking nut down it all the way, then tighten it up - mount your tire onto that and mount like normal - saves the welding - and if for any reason youw ant to sell it - youc an still go back and fix it =)

 

Well here is the moment you have all been waiting for.. pictures of the 33 mounted. i also included a little picture a lot of you will like.
For the driving with the 33 mounted, using the rear view mirror you cant really see when there those civics behind you. but im not worried cause i got a nice hook protecting my exhaust. haha. In the pictures it might look big but in real life it really isnt all that bad. Im stuck on a double date tonight so if you have any questions i will answer then when i get back... (i know what a waste of time, expecially i just got my B&M trans. cooler. and i got to figure out how im going to install that.. probably going to get steel braded lines and wire everything up like that)

i think i just might have to drive down to buffalo and get one. i need a passport now though...

and that $995 is before taxes, so after 13% i think it works out to $1,1xx. ****ty. even with the exchange it won't be that bad in the states. and i'll just mount it before i cross back over so i don't have to pay duty.

good gosh, yeah.. pretty darn expensive - especially with taxes -- hell, if youw ere able to make it to the august meet out here in portland/vancouver you coul just order it and have it delivered to one of us and we could bring it out to the meet and install it for ya

Honestly though - take a picture of it, and take it to a fab shop - its REALLY easy to build a "cage" of sorts for the rear tailgate, Just some quick framing, a latch or two, and if you want you can have it swing out or just fully disconnect if you need more room. COuldnt see it costing too much if you have a buddy or two and available tubing on hand =)

 

That looks great. I have been thinking about getting one. I was looking at the hitchgate but don't know if I like it. I am afraid it will move around too much. Do you think you could have a cap on your bed and use the one you have? I see you have a tonneau, so it might work. I just like having my bed completely sealed. Right now I can't remove my spare because of my BL so I need to fix that.

yeah it could fit. I have my jack and thats the only thing that limits the height, if i needed it to be higher i would just increase the spacing of the rubber spacer for the jack. But if you really want your box sealed then the tailgate isnt really useful since all the holes.

I hate waiting for ordered parts as well, but every time i get something in the mail it puts a big smile on my face. :)

 

So this morning @ 11:30am I got the call from 4WP that it came on - immediatly left to go pick it up.. got back, put it in teh garage - and had to hightail it to work... still sitting at work, and its 12:37am in the morning grinding my teeth wanting to install the darn thing. lol :-)

I hate this part - having to finish things up at work before you can go play with your new toy =)

 

In all honesty, I don't like it, especially the way the tire sits, but it's all about function over fashion.

Yeah - there are certain terms I have to deal with functionality over fashion - This is one of those lines I broke - the tire does ever so slightly get in the way of loking out the rear - but for mirror drivers liek myself, it doesnt bug you much.. especially knowing that you finally have afullsize spare in case anythign ever happens - takes a ton of stress out of driving in nasty terrain miles from home and cellphone towers and CB range.

 

There Are things i dont like about the gate but its stuff im looking past cause of how useful it is to me. I like having everything organized and ready. I have my spare out of the box and that im REALLY happy with, and i got my jack in a area thats not taking up room and its not moving around the box and most of all, easy access. I need the box of my truck, so i didnt really have a choice either. personally, i would do it to every travel truck i get bigger tires for.
I love the look it gives to my truck too.

Thats what makes this site soo great, everyone has there own taste in things and everyones posting pictures of what they do. So that way if your thinking of doing something the same but not sure, you see exactly how it looks and it guides you of how to do it, or even make it better.

Some might not like this tiregate, some will, but one thing that we all have in common im sure, is that we all have a big smile when we do something on our trucks. :)
