Well - got the call at 11:30 in the afternoon that 4 Wheel Parts had my item delivered.. so I scooted out to go pick it up.. got back right at 2:45 and had to jump into my work clothes and scoot off to work - got home about 12:30am and was finally able to begin the process of installing the VT Tiregate!

The always standard "Before" picture set!

And since its literally a bolt on - there was no need for intermediary pictures - just a finished product.. plus some extras ;) In the later pictures, notice the lights I finally installed below the tiregate - only took a bit less then 45 minutes to get it drilled in and lit up with my daylight running lights.

*8 No, I don't have a full size spare yet - I have some of my old 265/75/16's but not going to bother mounting those up - I'll see about ordering up a matching wheel + tire on the next paycheck.. but that's a good 300-350 bucks for that and I'm not sure if I can afford that right off the bat.

zabeard 07-17-2009 07:45 AM

sweet! i like it. but ya get a tire on there already.

WowMike2001 07-17-2009 07:49 AM

Tempted to throw up one of my stock ones - the suck part is itll be wierd runnign a stock teardrop wheel on there.. bleh, not sure if I shoudl quickly mount it up or if I should just wait till I get a matching set..

INT3RC3PTOR 07-17-2009 09:00 AM

Id just leave it till you get a fullsize spare. Looks great!

rideabikenick 07-17-2009 09:20 AM

looks great man!

seed60 07-17-2009 09:22 AM

Looks great. I always wanted one of the preunner ones.

GrafixGuy 07-17-2009 09:29 AM

nice!!!

j99ranger4x4 07-17-2009 10:30 AM

looks strong, is it heavy?

Tys 4x4 FTW 07-17-2009 10:37 AM

looks great man! but wont a big enough spare block the lights you just installed? lol

brianjwilson 07-17-2009 12:08 PM

I think those look alright but I hate the spare tires sticking straight up and down. Wouldn't be too bad if it was slanted a few degrees.

or just get the prerunner gate :P

looks good man, how long did it take to get it in? about a week?

i may have to order one to somewhere in buffalo and pick it up sometime soon. i dont want to pay the redic canada prices

WowMike2001 07-17-2009 03:58 PM

Yep, took just shy of a week through 4WP to get it ordered up - free shipping for me...

Works great - it is sort of heavy - the shipping box itself weighed probably 70-75 pounds give or take.. enough for one person to manhandle.. putting it together is pretty easy, really self explanitory with teh botls provided, the instructions sort of suck but with a little know-how you can get it set up pretty easily.

Other then that, It works great!!

red_fx2 07-17-2009 04:00 PM

awsome, love those things

ShadowRanger08 07-17-2009 09:48 PM

damn, i just looked at hte prerunner gate on 4wp and its 835.99, only $100 less then in canada, so after exchange, its almost the same price

Robin Hood 07-17-2009 10:56 PM

thats a good idea, but for the time it would take to do that and make it look good, you could probably make your own how you want it. Not to mention save some money.

Fx4wannabe01 07-18-2009 01:49 AM

Hey Mikey....what you doing with your old gate?

WowMike2001 07-18-2009 02:01 AM

Gotta keep it just in case I think - since its full color matched and rhino lined to match my bed, would have to pay a ton of money to replace it if I ever decide to go back or put this stock if (god forbid) I decide to sell it for a newer rig..

Whats your plans with it if ya needed one?

Fx4wannabe01 07-18-2009 02:16 AM

I'm taking the idea from a friend....tailgate full of emblems hangin' up on my shop wall. lol.

WowMike2001 07-18-2009 02:17 AM

haha cool stuff - WOuld be quick and easy to hit the junk yard.. but ugh, yeah - even that woudl be expensive :-D

Fx4wannabe01 07-18-2009 02:20 AM

hahahah. I know! I want a decent gate..hopefully i find a DWB at a upullit someday. lol. Worth a shot anyhow tryin' to nab yours off ya. lol.

WowMike2001 07-28-2009 01:32 PM

AN update on this: Just ordered up a full size spare from Tirerack... Matching wheel + tire, free mounting, and only 38 bucks shipping from nevada saves me tiem and effort of trying to track down a wheel from one store, and a tire from another..

Should be here by the end of the week, and I'll toss it on and post more pictures :-)
