I go this installed last week...with alot of help from posts I found on this site:

My tranny temp guage, well, is a water temp guage measuring tranny temp. Tranny guages were starting at $100 locally, so I said screw the little word on the guage face.

I wired it up using my radio's black/yellow for switched power and the radio's blue/red wire for the dimmer control. Ground was to the body near the sensor, and I ran the sensor wire through an existing hole in my firewall.

I was concerned how much ATF I would lose when I removed the bolt that was in that hole, but I only a tablespoon or so came out. I also made sure to wrap that sensor in teflon tape to prevent leaking.

I ran the truck for 100km afterwards (went fishing), and my top temp on a 35^C day was just 160^F. Normal driving around town (stop and go) in nromal weather I get up to maybe 150^F/155^F, and thats takes a while.

I am so happy to have this, I know it doesn't prevent a problem, but it lets me know if a problem is on its way.

I used the pressure sensor port behind the shift linkage...front of the truck is to the left....

The button on the guage lets me choose between 7 colors ---ooooooo. But they were too bright, so I cut the dimmer wire, and put in a variable resistor, adjusted to the point I liked the brightness and measured the POT. It read 640 ohms, so I slapped a 620 ohm resistor in there and called it a day.

 

My scangauge was reading that same temp sa well. Looks good!

 

Cool. Now you need it in a guage pod. Will look alot better. (jmo)

 

Nice work! now you need a guage pod for your A pillar.

 

My thoughts exactly! Thats why I left the wire exposed, so I still have a chance to run it where I want.

Where can I get a single guage, guage pod? - in the grey my interior is (or close enough)

All I found are doubles. Are the pods from another auto compatable?

Screw it. Get the double pod then get a s/c and boost guage.

 

My truck is too young for those pods, it was born in 2003.

 

they havent changed. Im positive that the a-pillar dimensions are exactly the same.

 

I'm pretty sure a single gauge mount for a F-150 Steering Column will fit our Rangers. I wanna go that route

 

i have gauge pod that i got from pep boys for 50 bucks...........it holds three gauges ..........i got a tranny temp oil pressure and a tach in mine...........its a good buy for the money..........

 

It will, I just got one and have a gauge it in. Works great, but it blocks left turn signal and airbag lights. Not a big deal for me tho.
