Differential Bearings?? (ASAP)
Ok, well I got my new cv shaft today so I was going to put it in tonight. Stick it in the diff and it won't go. So I look in there and find my differential bearings (which I think is the name of them) are out. My question is has anyone replaced them on a live axle setup and what parts do I need to get. Any write ups or info would be helpful cause I haven't found anything with searching
Is this what I need? It is from Rock Auto
diff bearing and seal kit
TIMKEN Part # DRK335
Dana/Spicer 35 Axle; Rear
4WD; Dana/Spicer 35 Axle; Front

There's an exploded view.
Just pull the seal and then get a bearing puller or slider hammer to get the bearing out.
I've used these before and they worked well. You can rent them at autozone.

yeah, ford calls it an axle bearing. I got everything out today but I can't get parts. So the truck is out of comission for awhile until I can get back to it. I came hunting which is 100 miles away and I have to go back to work tomorrow.
Now I just have to order parts and figure out when I can get back over here to put everything back together.

not the one in this town, they have no clue what they are doing and napa doesn't carry it either. The guy kept trying to sell me wheel bearings, then napa has a bearing they call a differential bearing but it is tapered and not the right part.

Ok, in case someone has one go out I got part numbers because the bearing that ford looked up and said is the only bearing that goes in there on the driver side was wrong.
The stock bearing is a Torrington bearing.
# DB-67309
Napa carries the bearing with the part # R1563-TAV just labeled as a bearing.
It goes right behind the axle seal, here

I'm going to go talk to ford and see if there happens to be a difference between edge and regular 4x4 but I don't see why there would be. That is the only thing I forgot to mention to the guy.

yeah, the whole drive to pecos I was saying this is the wrong one. Luckily napa had one or that would have been a wasted trip.
Then when I got there, I picked up the CV shaft that autozone ordered for me. Damn that thing was like 6 inches longer than the extended CV's haha. I'm guessing it went to a f-150 or some other fullsize. The new wheel stud they got was the wrong one too. They need to recheck their ford ranger part numbers haha

well, I don't know what the parts guy was looking at but I talked to another guy and we printed out the breakdown of the front axle and he was way off on what he was looking at.
So ford does have it, just the caliber of workers is down in the parts department
