building an arb bumper
.120 is smaller than 1/8 sheet steel, 1/8 is .125 and 3/16 is .1875/.188 so your using probably 11 gauge. I'd use at least 3/16 if not 1/4 just to be on the safe side
got 3/16 for teh mounts, it will be doubled up and plated in. i will take a photo of it when its done so you can see. only problem at this point is i lack a plasma cutter.
once mounts are welded in, do some dress up and put the light ports on- its off to linex.

Why use two 3/16th plates. One 1/4" plate will be stronger unless you found some 3/16" plate to cut in half? I get 1/4" plate from Lowes for like $20 a square foot, which is much more than needed for some bumper mounting tabs. It would be enough to make some D shackles with too.

it will be laminated per-se. my shackle mounts just got here, and i plan to weld the shackle mounts between the plates, weld it up, and then plate that in over the face. it will be plenty strong, haha. actually it may be overkill but with the hitch there, i want the pulling force on the shackles to be directed back into the hitch then into the frame and not as much into the bumper if that makes sense. photos soon. i need to cut some other **** out and tack it up, then you all can see the plan.
update, mounts all done, shackle mounts all welded in and all of it is plated. all i have to do is get the factory fog light mounts done, bend up the center hoop. then its off to linex. pics tomorrow sometime.
update-
done. need to drill the holes in the frame to mount up and weld up the top light hoop, but thats it. stock fog light mounts are done and came out super clean. pics tomorrow if i can.
then linex on monday hopefully
i want it done before my bday on the 18th.

no updates, i rattlecanned it black to see the badspots, its got alot so i need to hit it with bodyfiller in some spots and prime it. i have to prime it regardless of what coating i put on it.
dropped it off to the metal fabricator/ painter. i dont have a tube bender yet, i have a harbor freight peice of ****. i want the brushguard done nice and clean so hes going to do it. hes also going to clean it up and paint it black to match my truck. linex was the plan but really, i think it would look better painted in the long run.
didnt get pics, and i feel like an a ss because of it. sorry yall. so Sat, i will get a few shots of it if i remember.
