i would use atleast 1/4 for the mounts.. if it was mine the mounts would be 3/8 or 1/2.

.120 is smaller than 1/8 sheet steel, 1/8 is .125 and 3/16 is .1875/.188 so your using probably 11 gauge. I'd use at least 3/16 if not 1/4 just to be on the safe side

got 3/16 for teh mounts, it will be doubled up and plated in. i will take a photo of it when its done so you can see. only problem at this point is i lack a plasma cutter.

once mounts are welded in, do some dress up and put the light ports on- its off to linex.

Why use two 3/16th plates. One 1/4" plate will be stronger unless you found some 3/16" plate to cut in half? I get 1/4" plate from Lowes for like $20 a square foot, which is much more than needed for some bumper mounting tabs. It would be enough to make some D shackles with too.

two laminated 3/16th plates will be stronger then a single 1/4".

is that why I saw 2 pieces of like 1/4" welded together for a ram mount on the tie rod last weekend?

it will be laminated per-se. my shackle mounts just got here, and i plan to weld the shackle mounts between the plates, weld it up, and then plate that in over the face. it will be plenty strong, haha. actually it may be overkill but with the hitch there, i want the pulling force on the shackles to be directed back into the hitch then into the frame and not as much into the bumper if that makes sense. photos soon. i need to cut some other **** out and tack it up, then you all can see the plan.

I would like to see you take your markup and caulk and paint it black. Then take and coat it in sheet plastic molded to the shape.
Nice work.
