My dad has some diamond plate steel at his house so i was wondering if that would work for making a ho made skid plate to protect my radiator? I believe it is about 1/8" think so it should work right? I will post pics of the peace of metal for you guys to help me make one for my truck.

 

well... are you just talking about the type of skidplate similar to the kind that the factory puts on?

ie: you're keeping the factory bumper...

but i suppose with enough creativity and some hopes and dreams anything is possible.

Awesome now i just need to find a picture of a skid plate made for rangers. (aftermarket)
This way i can get an idea on how to do it. Basically i want to mount it near the front bumper and run it back to the front axle cross frame. That way it keeps water away from my belts so they dont squeel all the time.

 

are you thinking of doing a "prerunner" style bumper with a skidplate? or.... what?

 

The skid plate that covers the underneath of the engine that comes from the bumper to the front axle. I just need to cover the radiator and the belts. Any of this making sense or am i thinking of something different?
