Front bumper tow hook questions
Front bumper tow hook questions
I was wondering if someone could help me find some tow hooks for my truck, I'm either having them welded onto the front bumper or getting ones i can bolt on. The stock bumper is metal which is why I want to reuse it rather than spending hundreds having one fabbed. I'm looking around and all i can seem to find is legit hooks not rings, and I'd much rather have rings.
umm that could be what I'm looking for but I'm kinda on a tight budget so I was thinking something like this http://www.jeep4x4center.com/receive...-11234-01.html
but flat in the back were I can weld right to the bumper, or have holes so I can bolt it.

The thing is there alot of custom fab work involved with doing the front hitch plus id need to cut a hole in my bumper. i found what im looking for but id rather have bolt on ones, and id put them on right infront of where the bumper mounts to the frame like directly on it. http://fatbobsgarage.com/i-6764958-d-ring-mounts.html
The problem isn't them coming off the bumper, It doesn't really matter where on the bumper you put them.
The problem is the actual bumper mount won't hold any pulling weight whats so ever you'll rip it right of the second you put tension on it to pull something.

.....thats even with a front tow hook so you see the stock ones aren't really strong either a front hitch, that will not happen if welded correctly.
i didn't pay for mine

gotta know people i guess but i'm from MA and went to CT for it to get done which i didn't mind. i bought a trailer hitch from a chevy 1500 on craigslist for $20 and we cut it with a band saw then tacked it in place and put reinforcements out of scrap he had.

Im from mass too but i go to a vocational school so I could probally weld it on or have it welded by the metal fab kids, so you had it welded right to the frame? where were the reinforcements at where you cut off?
only thing we cut was the underside where the stock hooks would mount. if you have a 93 i don't think you have to worry about it. welded the hitch to the frame rails and the cross member that comes stock on the 4x4 trucks.
