front tow hook mounting?

i'm getting some tow hooks and i have a 2wd 2004 edge. i have the cross brace that they go on but it does not have the holes drilled so i'm wondering if it is a different thickness then the one with the hole already on there. If someone knows if there is a difference or could tell me what thickness one with holes is please chime in. I have an idea on how to reinforce that cross memeber should i just go ahead and do that even if it is the same size?

im thinkin that the front brace is different being as it is not equipped to handle tow hooks. think they changed the braces. my suggestion is to get one off an 4x4 and then use those.

i was under the impression that not all rangers had this cross brace and i think that the brace is welded into place so i would just reinforce it if its not strong enough

I was pretty sure all edges had the 4wd hook ready brace... but it may have changed...

The 2WD Edge had the 4x4 hooks and reinforced 4x4 hook mounts during the initial 2 or 3 years of production. First the hooks were thrifted, then the hook mounting points. IIRC, the mounts went away on the 2WD Edge sometime in 2004MY.
