My prerunner light bar....

First off, no, I won't build one for you.

Here's one picture of the pre runner bar I made last week.
It's just 1 1/4 black pipe, about ten feet and some one inch for the cross pieces. I drilled the license plate holes bigger and used bumper bolts to mount w/ one hole drilled for the back brace. I didn't want to go to the frame as I will be adding a BL a little later. I do not have a bender, I will explain later how I got my bends.

I will give you one tip...look at second photo, that was today. Even though I wore glasses/ or goggles when grinding/ cutting, it is still possible to get crap in your eyes, WASH real good after you're done, I think mine went in in my sleep...two peices of metal and a rust streak were removed today.

I'll post detail of build later on this thread...when I can see.

looks good and that does suck that you got metal in your eye. That happened to my dad and his vision has never been as good. His went flying in though because there was like a 6 inch cut that he forgot and did it without goggles since it was small. Bad mistake.

I'm guessing you used 90 degree or 45 degree pieces to make the bend, well that is what we did to make mine anyways

Thanks guys.
Eye is ok... I took the damn patch off, that tape was tearing eyebrows, eyelashes, and skin... great way to spend your 45th birthday, huh?

I'll post up some diagrams to build for those willing, sorry I didn't post a step by step, but the diagrams will explain all.

Actually to get the bends, I cut notches w/ chop saw about 3/4 through the inside of the bend, about 15 or 16 for each side on the top bar and 3 on each side of the long bar to contour the bumper.

On the top hoop, I got my approx bend on one side, ran a single bead over all the cuts to secure, then traced that onto a board as a template for the other side, flipped it over, used a rachet tie down, pulled second side to match template of first...ran a bead.

I filled the cuts w/ a bead and grinded/ sanded to contour the pipe.
when I bolted it up, I realized the bumper was too flemzy on it's own so I added the center brace...Build time was only about four hours...plus prime and paint time.
Again, I'll post up specs and instructions when I get a few minutes to draw them.

Yeah, all my bald friends are always *****in' at me to get a haircut!
Having big pores, oily skin, and zits keeps you younger looking, too!

I really don't think it took much longer than a bender, or pre bent elbows...I drew my marks about 1/4 inch apart and started cutting about 3/4 through, once the blade is hot on the saw each cut is faster.

I had the pipe layin' around, don't have a bender...quick and dirty...there's a few blems, but hard to see.

It's stronger than the bumper it's mounted to...and prolly the frame for that matter, it will be the last thing that bends if I hit a deer.

The "fabtech" looking brace was essential as the weight of the bar alone was twisting the bumper (and it only weighs like 25 pounds).

It's a prerunner bar, nothing special.

Thanks, though...I think?

It's really simple...let me see if I have time to do a drawing and post...been a little busy.

I bought some Hella 500's for it and took 'em back...a waste of 65 bucks for 55 watts of tiwan plastic...I slapped a pair of 6x9 150 watt rectangles from my suburban on there (somebody ask for a pic of it a while ago...can't seem to find one pre- paint peel off).
Still need to wire...again, that time thing, this week, though.

I'll post some different angles with better light...
