cuttin holes for a tube bull bar?

was looking at my 2wd bumper today and stumbled upon the idea of cutting out 2 sections of it to mount a bent tube bull bar through, see pic, done quickly in paint, but you get the idea. opinions?

or how about cutting holes in the plastic there and putting just two bars, either box steel or tubing straight up similar to how a bumper on some old silverados worked?
pic is just to show what i mean about the silverado, just little bars for nudging, looks

i mean, i'd want them to be bigger, but same basic idea other than mine wont be attached to the bumper, but to the frame instead
