INTAKE MODIFICATION ON BD 98 RANGER

I have a 98 Ranger that's has been body-dropped 4 1/2 inches along with air ride suspension. my questions involves what have you done to intake plenum to clear the wiper motor.

What size engine do you have?

I would not modify the intake if at all possible. I would sooner remove the wiper motor and just use rain x.

But then again I would avoid this sort of modification at all cost.

It looks like you have a cast aluminum intake manifold, short of making up a new from scratch manifold I am not sure I would attempt to modify the OE manifold for this project.

If your determined to do this project you may want to consider going with a different year intake and fuel delivery system.

Here is a link to another forum that has a large thread on the differences between these types of engines.

It may inspire a change that may work for your needs, I do not know if the information you need is here or not but if I was in your shoes this is where I would start my research.

Has the motor been lowered at all? If not that may be an option to get it to fit.

BTW if you feel you have to cut and modify your intake and you need to do it cheap which will leave you with needing to weld your modified cast aluminum intake back together I would use Alumaloy.

However I would suggest going to a salvage yard and pick up a used intake for cheap and modify the used one.
