RCD guy be aware!!!

I just want to let everyone know who has the rcd lift to check your drop diff bracket. Mine broke today when i went wheelin trying to flex on a rock. I had to reinforce it with 1/2'' steel and weld it all around. Was not a fun day. But just to let everyone know that it isnt that strong and i would check yours to make sure it hasnt spit yet.

lol did that to mine a long time ago ... did the same thing ... gotta love having to fix it with 1/4 inch steel

i will take pics tommorow i was a hour away from home and had to drive it there. I was very nervous on the highway but made it home safe. but i guess everyone has broke. I almost called rcd and tell them about it but they probally wouldn't do anything about it

that sucks man ya i wana see some pics also!!!!!

did u get to do any wheeling today? must of been nice and sloppy with the new rain. and i got a b-day party on the 29th i was told GRRRRR!! there is a damn party every weekend!

glad u fixed it.

you guys have to look at it this way.....RCD manufactures their lifts....EVERYTHING that is made/manufactured will have a couple flawed pieces....you are the first that i have heard of with this breaking.....AND since you wheel your truck, you add that extra chance of breaking something.....just so happens that you did break something.....

here is my advice since you wheel and broke it wheeling:
get over it....suck it up and buy another piece, build your own, or do a SAS so it is stronger and dont have the drop bracket.....

i know there is flaws but its a critical part to the front diff and it should be made with thicker steel or renforced. you would think of paying good $ for this lift that it would perform well and not break so easily.

all he is trying to say is to look out for it breaking.

And if u read all the postings you will see others have had it happen to theres also so he is already not the only one and it shouldent break when you try to do a small flex with a $$$ kit that you pay good $ for.

he posted to let others no about the Flaw of the kit for there safety.

ATLEAST 3 trucks on this site have had it break, thats a big %.. how many people on here have the RCD kit... 10 maybe?

broke mine 2 weeks ago, and its a piece that shouldn't break, not that easy at least..

MAYBE, like me he doesn't want to SAS his truck, maybe he doesn't know how, have the money, or the time to devote to it, maybe he likes wheelin an IFS truck ... if you actually wheeled your **** you would find a few weak links and ***** about them too

bottom line.. the % of trucks on this site, that WHEEL their RCD kit, and have had the bracket break is way too high, they need to do something about it!

alright let me put it to you in dummy terms (seems to be the only way to get across to you).....I don't wheel my truck because i know what the weak points of it are.....I don't wheel my truck because i don't want to spend more money on something that i already bought once......i don't wheel my truck because that isn't what it was built for.....i don't wheel my truck because i have something else i wheel when i want to wheel......do i need to go on for the stupid

his kit has been through it and back....you are telling that to someone who bulids frames for race cars for a living....i think he would know if he had or will have a problem....

The lift you bought and presumed to be made correctly, is in fact wrongly built and is expected to fail at some point. You may have paid 2000$ for a working lift, but it is within tolerances for the possibility of a part failing and, if on a highway, the chance of your life ending. You should've known better.

i am sure that the RCD meets and or exceeds DOT and OEM standards....if it didn't, then they would/couldn't sell it....i would assume that the stock parts would also fail if they had the strain of larger tires, and all the flexing, twisting that suspension parts take when off road.....

that is why solid axles are 100x better than an IFS off road....IFS's, even with aftermarket lift kits, are not designed to be beaten off road....

1) like i said it has nothing to do with being life threatening, im sure all the spindles(knuckle w/e) and shock mounts and all that crap is built to some specifications
2) it has nothing to do with suspension flex/travel/twist
3) the STOCK bracket is 2-3x THICKER than this little pos.. its gotta be at least 1/2" i looked at it it today
4) it should be designed to hold up to some rock collisions, and or the torque from our trucks
5) THESE ARE NOT STOCK PARTS, where did that come into the conversation? of course STOCK parts would start to fail

if its this common on this site alone, i has to be a pretty frequent problem with this kit

we ALL know that a SFA is 100x better in some aspects but THIS ISN'T A THREAD TO DEBATE THAT.

My stock "ifs" is designed to be "beaten" off-road

TTB's are more designed toward a solid axles than a true IFS.....99.9% of all IFS trucks the diff doesn't move....the only "IFS" truck i know of that doesn't have A-Arms is the TTB........

yes TTB's can handle heavy off roading......lifted or stock......but the SLA suspensions found in '98+ trucks are not designed to be beaten off road......even with lift kits on them....
