K&N Filters will clogg your MAF!
K&N Filters will clogg your MAF!
EDITED:
After 2 days of my truck being at the dealer, i finally got it back today. Reason being:
Clogged Mass Air Flow due to Oil from your K&N Filter.
I had the filter on my truck for 14,000 miles. The guys at Whaling City Ford didn't charge me for the part, it was all covered under the warranty (maf) so im happy bout that. With a new MAF and the stock filter back in my truck, my engine seems to have power again. Lesson learned, dont buy used k&n's ??
Im not trying to blame k&n, or myself... Possibly the previous owner put too much oil on it

50,000 miles here too, countless cleanings and oilings. Never one problem.
Your statement is wrong. K&N won't clog your MAF, the oil does. Any oiled filter can do it. It is caused by over oiling and the oil dirtying it, or can be under oiled allowing dirt to dity it.

it says right in the manual that comes with the air filter that you use a light coat of oil the you have to let the filter sit for a few hours. alot of people have the same problem. thats why ya have another filter that you can throw in while the other one is drying.
I was going to say that you blame the filter but it was the previous owner that you should blame. If you over oil it like everyone says you experienced first hand what the result is. This is a bad post becuse the filter is not to blame.

50K on my MAC filter without problems. My Eclipse had a K&N for around 50K, and I also had zero issues. The Mitsubishi MAF is even more senseative to oil, as it counts vortexes in the airflow.
My guess is that yours had too much oil in it. People tend to go a little overboard when they re-oil them. You use a very very light coating.

Well maybe the guy i baught it from did over oil it. For whatever reason the filter did not agree with my truck. If your having luck with it just keep using it, but there are some like me that choose not to.
I also did not have instructions or a box for it , just a filter given

The directions it comes with are very simple. Well if you oil it to much it will leak and be sucked in BUT since the guy is a douche and said it was good to go, you don't seem to be at fault, but I don't think you should be so quick to judge the air filter for it seems to be a faulty technician rather than faulty equipment.

What they are saying is that YOU are blaming K&N NOT the OLD OWNER who is the one that over oiled it causing the problem. You are making it sound like its the filters fault it got over oiled... last I tryed my filter couldn't oil its self.
So... clean your filter, oil it the way its supposed to be, install and be happy. (basicly what Swoopy was saying)
