Finally Installed the Thunderbolt Turn Signal Mirrors: Now with Pics

As the title says, I finally installed them. Either I'm finally getting better at installing mods, or this is just really REALLY easy to do. I think it's just easy to do. Anyways, I recommend them if you want to mod your mirrors. I would prefer heated ones, but for the time being, I have these. Here's a link to them on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...temZ8064656636

As requested:

How do these wire up?
Is it just a couple of wire splices, or does it involve alot of wire hacking?

Easy easy. Basically, I tapped two wires under the steering column, one for the left, one for the right. I ran the wires through the door boots, then to under the steering column where I connected the power wires. Both grounds I connected together to a ring terminal and grounded on ground point behind the boot on the driver's side. The hardest part literally is running the wires through the boots in the doors. This whole mod only took an hour and it was an easy hour, not a "God why won't this work, HARUERGHASODUFHADSUHWEPURHPDSAF" hour. :)

I'll try to grab pics of them this evening. I didn't take any photos of the install (I rarely photograph an install because I like to get things done) but I can describe the install and improve on the instructions from Roush.

I wired mine differently from the Roush instructions, in that mine are wired up only for the signals, and not with the brakes. You could also ground your setup differently then how I grounded my set up, it's all personal preference.

I'll post pics, but they wouldn't look any different from pics of the mirrors on the site already. I'll try to get a pic of both of them illuminated at once.

No dice. They only work on powered mirrors from 01 to 03.

Actually only power mirrors '02-'05 will do. I had to buy some newer powered mirrors to replace my '00/manual mirrors to get these to work, SO worth it IMO.

Doh, thanks BJ. I knew they worked on my 02, all that really matters for my modding, hehe.

We gotta have a TX meet in Fredericksburg or something at some point...go to the Nimitz Museum and cruise main street.

I won't be getting a whipple unless I either win one or get given one. They are just too darn expensive.
