K&N
So I bought the K&N FIPK for my truck and I have to say its crap compared to other K&N products. There is no isolation from engine heat. Its an adapter with a crappy attempt at a heat shield. Yes I did notice hp and tq gains but I still think this intake was poorly executed. My friend has an FIPK on his 06 GTO and it has an actual "box" that bolts to the car with the filter inside of it. Same goes for my other friend's 06 Tacoma. I also feel it will be very easy to suck in water or cover the filter with mud. So I will be switching it out for a Volant or S&B intake but not before I get exhaust on it.

If your looking to replace you might be interested in buying a used intake locally from Alon:

I had the some question about that? I wanted to get one but wondered if it was wise being on dirt roads all the time and how it just sits there outside of a box? Should someone who drives off road all weekend every weekend get the standard K&N filter that goes right into the factory box instead?

Just get these and cover your filters when you go offroading we use these on the baja bugs. They work really well we have 10 Grand Vw motors running them that we run thru the mud all the time never had a problem.

Thats why I went with the AEM on my 03, I love it, and have never had a problem off roading. Plus, the heat shield was much better than my K&N. My 2 cents.
