How To: Eliminate Door Dinger on 04+
I got tired of listening to that freaking ding everytime I opened my door when I was modding and had the radio on so I set off on finding a way to turn it off. This will totally eliminate the door dinger when the key is in the ignition, I choose to put it on a switch so I can turn it on and off whenever I want.
I got this mod off of www.generation-edge.info but I figured it would help this site as well. All the pictures are mine though, credit to Diggr for doing the research originally.
Tools needed:
Torx 15
8mm socket
Wire cutters/strippers
SPST switch (optional)
and your connectors of choice
You'll need to remove the under the dash panel, here is Ford's manual instructions on how to do it with my own pics under that. The cover is held on with 4 Torx screws. 2 behind the parking brake handle and then 2 on both bottom corners. The metal panel behind that is help on by 5 8mm bolts.
Then you'll see the metal cover
Here is with both panels removed, the wire we will be cutting is in the yellow insulation.
This is the connector the wire is coming from, we are cutting the black/pink wire.
Now make sure to cover both bare ends of the wire, I chose to use female ends so I can add a switch.
And the switch I used, just one I had in my garage.
And my new toolbox, I love it
Any questions or if I left something out feel free to ask!

Good write up, Trent.
For anyone interested, here's a variation on the same idea. It's a self resetting, pushbutton dinger disabler:
