Rear-view dash cam with no rear window

I want to put a rear dashcam in my E150 cargo van. But it doesn't have any windows in the rear. I have no issue putting a round hole in the metal window panel, but I can't figure out how to seal a small piece of glass to cover it. Mostly... how to seal between the glass & meal for both mechanical strength as well as weatherproofing.

Any ideas>

So it looks like this?
If not what year is it?

And what is the camera model?
The lens it uses decides the hole size

I assume you don't want to mount it outside because of theft?

What about behind the license plate, you can drill a hole in those as long as it doesn't effect the numbers/letters, so its outside but hidden

I can't mount it outside as it's not weatherproofed. It's a dash cam, not a backup camera.

If it's behind the license plate, I'd need to drill a hole in the plate. That might catch a ticket from the local constabulary.

You can drill holes in license plates, although it is usually done to mount them, but not illegal as long as information on the plate is not altered

But that would still be outside

Problem with putting it inside is what ever transparent cover you put on/in the hole WILL get fogged up, just like any window can, because of temp difference inside and outside and higher moisture level inside any vehicle, even more so because its thin

Sorry forgot to post image of the rear of an E150 I was looking at: https://img.autobytel.com/2014/ford/...view-71498.jpg

May be north of the 42nd.... Here, it will be a patchwork of state laws. I'd rather avoid the issue altogether.

If I did do it, I run into the issue of what to do when new plates are issued. Where the hole was in the old one may affect the information on the new one.

Yes. But condensation will be far less of an issue as the rear is not climate controlled.
