Installed all this junk in my truck today. 2003 turbo, updated oil feed line, and updated oil drain line. Got a good deal on the turbo and that sound it makes is just awesome IMO lol.



Here's a shot with the turbo out. I'm actually surprised how easy this was to do. 3 hours from start to finish. The engine looks intimidating but was surprisingly easy once I started tearing into it.



Now I didn't gain anything by doing this other than the sound, but I've got my stock turbo sold so all I'm out is my time to install the new one. My wife said it sounds stupid though lol.

I'll have to get a sound clip but until then I'll use someone else's. It sounds just like this.

 

If your wife says it sounds stupid then I am guessing it sounds great!! As it does in the video!

 

Perfect since it didn't cost anything. Have you had any problems with your truck? A kid in my major has an '04 6.0L. He has blown-up his turbo at least twice and has had to replace his motor at least once.

wondering if this will knock down some of your mpgs. fixed turbo size vs variable geometry turbo.... probly be better for reliability tho

 

No problems at all, well I take that back, I had to replace the batteries lol. Usually problems with this engine are because of neglect. You can't let the maintenance on these slide one bit.

 

?? Both turbo's are VGT. The only difference is the 03 turbo has 10 vanes on the exhaust side and the 05 has 13 to make it quieter.

 

i still say the 6.0 has the best turbo sound of any ford diesel

Theres one 250 in my town that sounds like that. to bad its all stock and guy uses it as a DD for around town. how pointless.

 

I love the 03 turbos. There is no mistaking that distinctive sound.

There is a guy on the forums with one on an OBS 7.3.

My GF agrees. If it doesn't rhyme with Shmimonds it is a mod I can live w/o. I told here superlift w/ 33's rhymes with Shmimonds. She didn't think it was too funny.

She knows I work hard and if I wanna do anything to my truck, I don't have to ask for permission. I own it, I can do what I want to it. However i also know that it takes away from anything I am saving for.

love the sound of the 03 turbos. love your truck man, but your making me wanna do a tune and deletes on the 6.4.. damn mod bugs and having other responsibilitys
