Ranger or Jeep? This is a big decision

I'm not wondering or considering what people have to say because its my own situation, but i just want to let people know what's goin on with my truck. Well many have seen the picture thread i made about my fabtech spindle snapping, and this is causing alot of tension right now with the parents and stuff. I hate asking too much from them like this whole thing, but i really have like no money. My truck has been sitting outside in a parking lot for over a week now on 3 wheels.

The truck is my mom's and stepdad's, but i drive it (I lived with my dad, and have been for the last 3 months but thats only 5 mins away from my house). Basically it is mine but they bought it and its been passed down to me. They are considering making it stock and lowering it back down again. I'm not being snotty, but if they do that, I'll probably take all my stuff out and make it stock as theyd want, and then start working on my Jeep and driving that every day. Ive put so much money and hard work into that truck, and I've learned so much and had so many good times in that truck. It'd just hurt having to drive it bone stock again...I'd get caught up on all my payments on the jeep by selling ranger stuff, and then make that thing a daily driver. There's so much i'd have to do to make that thing a reliable daily driver, but its my own truck and i can make my own choices with it.

Right now my stepdad and mom are out eating with my dad talking about it. For some reason my stepdad wants to hear what my dad has to say even though he's not paying. My dad wants me to keep the truck lifted. He's even going to try and talk them into letting me lift it and put it on 35's, as long as i don't off-road it, and sell my jeep within the month or so to get out of payments and give them some extra money, and then also buy it from them when i graduate from highschool. I said i'd do that for sure. I just dont want to have the ranger stock, and then have it be passed down to my little brother. For some reason i love that truck and i'm sure many of you feel the same way about yours. It's my first car and I dont want to get rid of it. We'll see what my dad says when he comes back tonight.

Sorry i typed so much and alot of you all dont care, I just really wanted to type it out.

Evan

To clarify, I say go with the jeep. Because your jeep is sweet and your ranger is cool. But your jeep is sweet!

alright well the ranger wont go on 35's, but will get new 33's. so its the jeep on 33's or the ranger on 33's. i can always lift the jeep on 35's

It's probably not going to be a situation where you can have your cake and eat it too... or rather where you can have both vehicles and still drive both of them. Even having one vehicle to yourself is an expensive proposition while you're still in high school working for only a few dollars an hour... much less having two of them that are constantly breaking. My advice is to cut one loose. Make a set of criteria that you want from a vehicle and determine which vehicle can fill all those criteria.

You'll probably take into consideration which you like driving more, which one will be more reliable/economic, and which one will need the least amount of money to be street-worthy.

You'll have your entire life ahead of you to afford more vehicles, but learning financial responsibility is something you need to learn as soon as possible. I'm not saying you've been irresponsible up until now, but perhaps you have just bitten off more than you can chew, especially with the vehicles breaking down like they have.

Good luck man! Let us know what you decide to go with.

Yeah i have bit more than i can chew. Buying the jeep killed me and caused me so much money and problems. I'm probably going to let the jeep go just because it needs a good amount more work to be a good daily driver. It has no a/c or radio, no locking doors, and cracked windshield...etc. The ranger can stay as it is but get some new 33's, and next summer i can probably work on a body lift and 35's.

Good thing my zuk does the same thing for a lot less, lol.

Evan, if I were you I'd keep your truck the way it is after you get it fixed. 35s will just be pushing your truck harder again... Save the money to buy the truck instead!

im gonna go with the ranger, i cleaned my jeep up good and drove it around today. it runs so perfect man it sucks. ive had it for so long but had so many problems with it. All this has to happen right when i get it running perfect. Oh well...the ranger is a much better daily driver.

And it turns out my options were that if the ranger were made stock, i dont drive it at all and in 2 years it goes to my brother. So its either one truck or the other. Then i'll buy my ranger off them in 2 years when i graduate.
