My grandparents have offered to give me their old 1988 ranger XLT for free..it hasn't ran in quite a few years, but looks relatively nice.. it'd definitely need work from a detailer for the interior, the windshield leaks but my uncle has a shop and can hook me up..it has the 2.3l l4 engine with 4x2 drivetrain. I am okay with doing a little work to fix it up or even upgrade it. I just want to ask it's capabilities..I go hiking often and expect to be driving on rough gravel USFS roads often and i live in a hilly area in the PNW so it'd see a little snow. Is this truck capable of all this? What upgrades should I make on it to improve handling and power?
