1991 Manual Transmission Sensor help

I'm swapping the transmission on my ranger and I know it has two sensors. i know one is for the backup lamp but can't figure out what the other sensor is and it is broken. Anyone have an idea?

Welcome to the forum

Backup is a switch, just FYI

Only other wired connection on a 1991 Ranger manual trans(M5OD-R1) would be the VSS(vehicle speed sensor), it would be with speedometer cable hookup on drivers side of tail shaft housing.

It would look like this: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...peedsensor.gif

and this: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech.../vss_test1.JPG

Some Explorer M5OD-R1 transmissions had a Neutral switch, Rangers never did.
