Icon4 1999 Ranger problems PLEASE HELP!!!

Hello All,

I am new to the forum, and have been having some problems with my 1999 Ranger xlt 4cyl. My issue started about a month ago, When ever my fuel level got below half a tank my truck would not idle and would run horrible. while driving in 3rd or 4th gear I would put the pedal to the floor and the truck would almost feel like it shut off, then all the sudden jolt and take off again.... I have noticed that it does this mostly when my tank is half gone. I tried plugs,wires,coils... nothing. for some reason a OBD II scanner will not connect to my truck, it says "unable to connect to vehicle". I am at a loss guys gas mileage has dropped, stalling all the time is embarrassing... Please any help is greatly appreciated. Oh, and i did unplug my mass air with little to no chage while driving.

Thanks in advance,
Tom

You should replace your fuel filter first thing.

While you are at the AP store buying that, ask them if they lend fuel pressure gages.
Test the fuel pressure before and after replacing the filter, might be enlightening.
