It's been done, but requires a lot of fabrication work, a 3 inch body lift will help some.

Steering is in the way on the drivers side, heater box is in the way on the passenger side, and custom headers will have to be built.

Sounds like a lot of work but I bet I would be worth it !!! Thanks for the info !! I am either gonna do something like that or **** can this slow *** 3.0 v6 ranger truck. I can’t stand not being able to merge on I 40 without being almost run over I feel like the Jed clampett everybody blows by me honking. I have to stand on the gas pedal with both feet to get 70 out of it. Worst motor ford ever made in my opinion. But I bet that interceptor would get this thing moving !!! Lol thanks again

3.0l Vulcan engine is a High RPM engine by design
Makes best power(torque) at 3,600rpm, most engines do that at 2,600rpm
So you NEED TO "drive it like a rented mule", keep the RPMs high to get any power, it got the nick name "3.slow" because people never read the specs on engines, just expect them to all be the same, lol
It loves HIGH RPMS

The 302/5.0l OHV fits in a Ranger and can make as much or more power as most other V8s so no reason to re-invent the wheel, sell the heavy engine and use that money to get a 302

thank ya RonD I keep forgetting you told to drive it like I stole it. I guess the gas mileage couldn’t get any worse anyhow. I will drop her down in drive and hammer it from now on. You don’t know anyone interested in a 2001 crown Vic with interceptor in it do ya. I rear ended some folks but drive it home didn’t do much but cosmetic damage. Then my father in law thought the tranny would fit in his ford lighting truck cause they had the same numbered transmission but the bell housings were different so I now have a crown Vic that needs a front cap and the transmission put back in. It was serviced regular it was a police detective car solid silver in color no spot light but runs like the wind when the tranny was in !!!!

MPG will improve if you are not LUGGING the engine, lol

Compare it to driving any other vehicle around but never exceeding 1,500rpm, MPG would suck big time
MPG is more power related than RPM related, unless you are coasting down hill

I wish it was a standard but it’s not. So what do you recommend should I just drop her down in 2nd and shift her out like that to keep the rpm up ?
