2001 Ranger Shift Tube Raplacement Issue
Hi all
I purchased a new shift tube replacement (dorman product) because my gear shift lever was getting really, really sloppy. I took the clam shell cover off
and could see that the tube casing was wobbled out plus the rear 2 bolts that hold the tube were very loose, normal stuff there. I disconnected the
battery and replace the tube in about 45 min or so. I put the ground cable back on and attempted to start the truck. Oddly, it would not crank over....
all the lights came on as usual. With the key on and foot on the brake, I am able to move the shift lever freely. I roll the ignition the brake indicator light
comes on, other lights are already in the ignition on position. What in the world could i have done?
Thanks In advance
Justin

FYI-Solved This issue was caused by a key that was programmed at Lowes. Even though the battery was d/c, I had always had the key in the ignition during the repair
to make sure the fitment with the new tube was correct. For some reason the keys transponder code was lost or battery in the key shorted when I hooked back up the battery.
I just today decided to try to start the truck with the OEM key and much to my surprise it started right up. Leaving the aftermarket key the culprit
