How do you know if the vehicle has the anti-theft on it? When I put my key in and turn it to run, the "THEFT" light does not come on, but neither do others.

 

2001 should have PATS, i had an 01 xlt and it had it, the key should look like this:



sorry for the small pic, it was all i could find. your theft light should blink every few seconds when the key is out of the ignition if i remember right.

 

No you do not have PATS. The 2.5L in the first part of the 2001 model year were more or less carryover from 2000 and did not have PATS. Later in 2001, Ford changed over to the 2.3L 4-cylinder which did have the PATS feature. The 2001 V6 Rangers had PATS for the entire model year.

Thanks for the info. I took the dash apart thinking the bulb was burned out, only to find it was an led type. Anyhow, nothing lights up there. Now I can install my remote starter without having to buy a bypass....Thanks for the help.
