2004 Ford Ranger FX4
2004 Ford Ranger FX4
Well when I try to turn over my 2004 effects 4 after we have done a complete timing cassette change I get the following that's in the video.
I just hajudge starter tested and it aok. New battery as well.

No video seen and don't like them in any case
Just describe what you have going on
If starter doesn't work at all then its an activation or 12volt issue
If starter turns the engine a bit and then stops the timing between crank and cams is wrong
Pull out all the spark plugs and try starter motor, see if it spins the engine when there is no compression
If the cam timing was off you have already bent a valve or two so can't do any more damage

Check fuse 7 in engine bay, 40amp
There should be 2 wires on the starter motor
Large Red wire from battery positive
Smaller Yellow/blue wire from engine fuse box, this wire is on the "S" post of starter, small terminal, this yellow wire has 12volts when key is turned to START
If you use a jumper wire from battery positive to this "S" post, starter will activate, so be careful if you try that
When you turn the key to START the ignition switch sends 12volt to Fuse 21 in cab fuse box, check that fuse
After Fuse 21 the 12volts goes to the Neutral Safety Switch(NSS)
On an automatic the NSS is on the transmission drivers side, shufter must be on Park or Neutral to pass the 12volts
On a manual the NSS is on the clutch pedal, clutch pedal must be down to pass the 12volts
The 12volts then goes to the Starter Relay in the engine fuse box, and activates it, and THAT sends 12volts down to starter "S" post on the Yellow wire
2004 has PATS(passive anti-theft system)
PATS has a THEFT light on the dash
When you turn on the key the THEFT light should come on and then GO OFF, if it starts to Flash rapidly then PATS has disabled start up
PATS grounds the Starter relay in the engine fuse box, so Relay will NOT WORK if THEFT light is flashing
