2010 FORD RANGER **no change** again. . .
Who really ecpected any major changes anyway? the global one isnt supposed to take over until 2012 or 2013, so enjoy the Ranger as is till then.
im glad i bought my 09 then. No side airbags. I dont like those things anyway.

Its not really a solid truck. The reason they sell well is because they are cheap. I bought mine because I was poor at the time. Also I picked it up from a Toyota dealer. I wasn't looking for a Ranger at a Toyota dealer.
Cheap and reliable.
On 30+ MPG highway? Might have to call bs on your bs, sorry. 29 MPG here, last summer when my truck was nowhere near being fully broken in with only 2-3k on it and I got that 29 with 75% highway 25% city. With an automatic, and that wasn't granny driving either.
I wouldn't call my Ranger cheap, but I'd call it affordable. It certainly isn't built cheap, and has performed very well for me over the last two years that I've owned it.
I also wanted a vehicle built by an American manufacturer.
Yeah, Rangers aren't built like Kia or Daewoo cheap. Rangers, for their price point in the market I think are a well built truck. I get in mine and it feels like a quality vehicle. I get in my mom's Kia Sportage and I feel like I'm going to break something.
My mom's Kia has about 85 000 miles on it and it's an '01. The rear quarter panels are rotted right through, the hood has a quarter sized rust hole near the hood latch and in the last 8 months, she has spent in the region of $3000 in repairs for a power steering pump, new belts, getting something fixed with the 4wd, and having some electrical problems repaired, and a new blower motor. 85k miles and it's falling apart.
You look at my truck and it doesnt look like it has 250+k miles on it. Only signs of are are peeling paint and surface rust bubbles. You get in it every day and drive it and don't worry about it falling apart around you. IMO, it's a quality vehicle. Yes, the newer ones are slightly cheaper 'feeling', due to cost cutting on plastics and trim and such. But not for one minute do I think of my truck as 'cheap.'

Im not giving up my (paid for) Ranger for anything. I wouldnt mind a new one but I looked for a while to get the specific one I have and love the mods that I have done to it. If the engine or tranny go then I will just put another in.
i know everyone elses experiences are different but ive owned rangers ever since i could drive (legally). ive owned rangers of 4 different generations with a combined total of over 700,000 miles on the 4 rangers ive owned, all on origanal motors, one trans in my 86 and a fuel pump. besides normal maintinence ive had no major issues at all. my winter truck (1993 4x4 4.0 5spd) has over 245,000 miles on it and its more trouble free than my 2001 blazer that my wife drives that has less than half the miles on it. i know good maintinence goes a long way and i know every vehicle has its quirks and limitations but my rangers have been a pleasure to own and i will probably always own one. ive watched my friends buy truck after truck (mostly chevys) while my trucks just keep chugging along saving me alot of money. i havent had a truck payment for over 3 years thanks to my "cheap" little trucks. i will be sad when they discontinue the ranger line.
This always makes me laugh. Seems like everyone is waiting for the Ranger to do some huge conversion or some crazy new radical looks........come on guys you should know better. It took Ford almost 10 years to change the outter look from the box to rounded look, then another 5 to make the changes that led us up to 2000/2001. The little changes made over the past 9 years have been just that, little. They shrunk the powerdome hood, they lowered the 4wd's, they've done away with many of the added features like gap gaurds, cargo lights, and model upgrade packages. I don't know what you expect from Ford of the little Ranger, but it doesn't seem like anything good anytime soon.
I bought my Ranger because a friend of mine had one for a long time with very little maintenance or problems with it. He had about 130,000 miles on his truck, and a friend of his who also had a Ranger had 165,000 on his and both were still running strong. So Rangers being known for getting trouble-free high mileage was a big selling point for me.
