4.0 swap?
4.0 swap?
I totalled my beloved 01 b4000. The drivetrain is ok and I have the opportunity to get a 97 stepside ranger with a bad 3.0. how much is involved in putting the overhead cam 4.0 and 5r55e into the 3.0 chassis? I know I'll have to change the harness and computers but my b4000 is complete but the rails are the worst of the damages the cab is also still in good shape. Also the ranger is an extended cab short bed the Mazda is the 4 door dual sport both are 4x2.. any ideas and or advice needed. TIA

Pretty much the same swap as a V8 into a Ranger
Engine, trans, computer and harness
Motor mounts, exhaust, radiator
If 1997 is an automatic it will help, so you don't have to swap out pedals and steering column.
1997 uses a dual fuel line Return Fuel system with 35psi fuel pressure, 1998 and up used single fuel line Returnless with 65psi fuel pressure.
So you may need to swap fuel pump, and probably swap the fuel lines from tank to engine, I think the 2001 would use the 3 port fuel filter.
