4x4 switch HELP!!

so i was out n about today and saw some guy launched his little corolla up onto a curb. i didnt ask how he did it, just offered to help. chained the car up to my front tow hooks, threw it into reverse and went back. didnt get it off the curb. so i threw it into 4 hi to get more traction as i was spinning my tires. didnt work. so i flipped the truck around and hooked him up to the rear. worked that way but now my 4hi and 4lo lights blink on and off and truck wont engage 4wd? any help?

Search search search. We've covered this again and again the last couple months. There must be at least 6 topics linking help on the shift motor and electric shift system now. I for one am not typing anything on this anymore.

Google searches with the right keywords will get you those topics even. Learn to search, my friend -- you'll get the info faster. This is a common problem, often discussed.

you shouldent pull people in reverse... the ring and pinion were ment to hold torque and weight in one direction.. just dont want to see you strip it out or grenade your diff..

You mean the reverse gear isn't designed to pull that much weigh right?

I have done it many times and have had no problems.

yeah i dont know some one told me that pulling in reverse is not good. i would assume its using the "bad" side of the pinion... or its what you said.. i have pulled people too with no problems but i figure i would see if some light could be shed on this to clear things up..

since the gear is angled i would assume it would work better in one direction then the other...

I'm sure it is but all I have is front tow hooks. Also I try to go offroading with people that know what they are doing so they don't need my assistance.
