Welcome to the forum
Mechanically is not very hard to do, lots of info out there on Ranger V8 swaps
Getting the electrical work done is more of the time spent
2004-2011 Rangers got the new Digital Clusters(HEC) and full CAN Bus data network, so that adds layers of wiring issues when changing engine size and computer to run the new engine
You can do it of course, but will need most of a cab wiring harness and instrument cluster from a 2001-2003 Ranger
I would assume Mustang is 1995 or older, but fuel injected?
So an OBD1 computer and wiring harness which is easier to work with
The Mustang intake may be a little tall in a Ranger so you may need to do a body lift, or use an Explorer intake
You need a new transmission of course, if you want a manual trans you need M5OD-R2 from a 1997-2003 4.2l V6 F-150, matches 5.0l bolt pattern and shifter location of Ranger
Mustang automatic from the V8 will work in Ranger
