I am looking for new seats for my Ford ranger extended cab. I have heard other seats will fit and was gonna try mustang seats. What are some years and vehicles that work with this seat swap?

Yes, Mustang seats will work, for extended cab, regular cab needs short back seats, no "pillow" headrests
One heads up, all seats sit on rails, prior to 2000 or so seats were bolted to the rails so easy to swap rails if you needed to, around 2001 the seats were welded to the rails, bolt holes were still there, may need to be threaded, so on later model seats if the rails don't fit the holes in the Ranger floor you have to cut them off and bolt your 1992 rails to them

All year Ranger seats fit, and usually rails line up as well, and most explorer seats as well
