Welcome to the forum

There were 3 different engine options in a 1994 Ranger, 2.3l 4cyl, and a 3.0l Vulcan V6 or a 4.0l OHV Cologne V6

Which do you have?

Your transmission is an M5OD-R1 model, and it is specific to the engine size as the bell housing is part of transmissions main case, not detachable like many manual transmissions has

You can look on the drivers door to see what rear axle you have, look here: https://therangerstation.com/tech_li...le_codes.shtml

Many "drifters" don't consider you are drifting unless BOTH rear wheels are spinning, lol
With an OPEN differential only one wheel gets power, the easiest one to spin, so only one wheel can break traction and spin
With limited slip(L/S) both wheels get power so both can spin

Some even go to Locking differentials, there is a switch in the cab they turn on and it LOCKS the differential, so no slip at all

But a locked differential can't go around a corner, outside wheel will chirp and drag because it is locked to the slower turning inside wheel, or it simply breaks the axle, lol
But if you can switch it off for street driving then it works well for drifting
